Experienced manager in Risk Management, Experiential Education, Civic Engagement, Global Education, Intercultural Programs, Interdisciplinary Curriculum Development, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Independent Schools.
My 30+ years in education has included instructing for NOLS, Outward Bound, and as an independent guide in addition to managing multiple outdoor education programs in independent schools. I have led climbing, mountaineering, and kayaking trips throughout the American West and Alaska.
As a classroom educator and administrator, I have taught in Native American Schools with the Shoshone and Arapahoe tribes and developed partner learning programs with Inupiaq, Gwich'in, Makah, and Lakota nations. I have taught history, literature, economics, and English for multiple NAIS schools in California, Nevada, and Washington.
My specialties include developing interdisciplinary experiential programs in critical cultural landscapes that blend outdoor education with intercultural immersion and academic studies. I strive to push experiential learning beyond the "one and done" model. I believe in equipping students with tools for civic engagement, policy advocacy, and change making.
