Bio

I serve as Sustainability Coordinator, Science Curriculum Coach, and Environmental Studies teacher at The Evergreen School in Shoreline, WA. As Sustainability Coordinator, I lead sustainability practices and policies for staff, parents, the board of trustees, and neighborhood groups as well as curriculum integration for teachers. As chair of Evergreen’s Science and Green School Committees, I coordinate class and student groups in environmentally-based service projects. I directed the school’s participation and certification in local and national Green Schools programs leading to Evergreen winning the 2013 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon award. I have served as an advisor to the Washington State Education for the Environment and Sustainability Program, Islandwood’s urban environmental education programs, Facing the Future, a non-profit global sustainability curriculum design organization, and as a board member of Homewaters Project, an environmental education organization and serve on the board of Camp Nor'wester. Prior to my current position, I taught fourth-grade science, social studies and math, and fifth-grade science.
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Education, Huxley College and Western Washington University, and a Masters of Education, Science Curriculum Instruction at the University of Washington. I received Professional Certification in Sustainability Management through the University of Colorado, Boulder. As a lifelong Washingtonian, I enjoy kayaking in the San Juan Islands, hiking in the Cascade Mountains, bird watching and playing soccer.
